ReplyDeleteThanks for the good words. I appreciate you putting my video on your site. If it helps anyone, youngsters or us older hunters, that's perfect. Your website is great. Nicely thought out. I'm afraid my Google site is rough. I know taxidermy, but, not how to do websites. I sure would welcome any comments or changes I could make to make it more appealing. I will also include a link to your site... just as soon as I figure out how. Thanks again. - Rick

Hello Rick, I appreciate the quality videos you put out on youtube. I'm a Marine and new to hunting. While learning by starting rabbit hunting, I stumbled into a wild boar hog here in LA. Fortunately, I can shoot and took it down with a head shot with my .22. I had to pull it out of the swamp for quite some time, a story for another day haha! Unfortunately, my wife and I didn't have the knowledge to process the meat and my wife couldn't find a butcher in time so I gave it away. I just ordered your videos and look forward to doing this myself this year. Deer hunting is tough on public land in LA, but I think your videos will give me the ammo I need to take care of business when I get my first deer. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteYes, I see you ordered one of my DVDs. If you have any questions after you get it, just email me anytime. I'd be happy to help. Thanks for the order.
A boar is very similar to a deer as far as processing. It's all the same cuts of meat, skinning out is similar, tougher hide. Field dressing, I'm sure you found out, is similar too. That's pretty darn good shooting one with a .22. Congrats on the head shot! All the work you went to, getting it out, etc., at least you didn't let it go to waste. With this video, you'll be able to process your deer and have excellent meat. You'll know, too, that you have your own meat. Sometimes when you take it to a processor, you never know what you're getting back.
Thanks for the kind words on my videos. Hope they helped.
It's tough to get on private ground up here too, unless you know somebody. Public is pretty crowded. So, I know what you mean.
Thank you for serving our country. We appreciate the sacrifices that are made on our behalf. - Rick

Hi Rick,
ReplyDeleteI must say that your videos are the most comprehensive and easy to follow. Outstanding job on how well they are put together! I seem to be having a hard time finding on your website where I could purchase the Large Game Field dressing video. I will also be purchasing the processing for the freezer video. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks, Phil

ReplyDeleteI don't have the field dressing video for sale. It's just free. I was just trying to be helpful. Download the video and save it on your computer, if you can. If you can't do that, let me know and maybe I can copy it to a disc and send it to you. I sure appreciate all your good words. They're very encouraging. Thank you again. - Rick
Rick,
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I'm unable to download the field dressing video to a disc or to my computer. I think I've tried everything but just no luck. If it's possible, could you send me a copy? If you need any info my email is oldschool9@sbcglobal.net
Thanks, Phil
Phil:
ReplyDeleteSorry I didn't get back w/you quicker. My wife is in the hospital and I've been dealing with that. Once she's back home, I'll get that video to you. She handles that part of things. - Rick
Rick,
ReplyDeleteNo worries on the video. Most importantly, hope all is well with the wife. Phil
Phil:
ReplyDeleteBoth your videos left today. I made extra copies in case anyone else wants to purchase the entire Field Dressing DVD. Thanks again. Let me know how you like the videos. Email me anytime. - Rick
Hi Rick-
ReplyDeleteLooks like good video instruction, I'm planning on ordering a set. Just wondered if you covered field dressing elk in any of your videos, and in particular "boning out" an elk to save weight being packed out?
Thanks-Scott
Scott:
ReplyDeleteYou can bone an elk out in the field. What I did is roll the elk on it's side, then skin the hide off. Cut the hide down the middle of the back from the neck to the butt. (You do not have to gut the elk with this method.) Peel the hide off the top side and lay it flesh side up on the ground. You can bone the meat out and lay it right on the hide to keep it clean. When you're done with one side, roll the elk over and do the other side. You can save a lot of weight by not having to hump out the skin and bones. Bone the elk just as you would a deer. Just bigger pieces. The DVD you just bought from me shows you how to do this for deer.
Thanks for the purchase and question. Email anytime. - Rick
Just bought your large game processing video and was wondering if I could get a DVD with the field dressing video. It is excellent and would be a great teaching tool for my son.
ReplyDeleteJason:
ReplyDeleteThanks for the purchase and compliment. I enclosed the field dressing video to you also. If you would send a couple bucks to the return address on the envelope, it would help for the extra cost.
