Hi Rick
ReplyDeleteSo why use the paper keenex to back fins what good is it? I know why the acrilic caulk? What pound test of spider wire for fish? what pound test for deer mounts?
Charlie ( I am serious about getting all this down)
The tissue paper helps to fill in the gaps you may have between the fin rays. It also gives you a cleaner edge when you trim them up.
DeleteThe caulk on the fins keeps them flexible, so they are not brittle anymore.
I use 10 to 30 lb test spider wire on fish. For deer, use a heavier line; something like 30 to 60 lb test.
Rick
So I can see using the Spider wire on a deer cape, but you don't have any problem with it pulling thru on a fish skin?
ReplyDeleteYou have convinced me not to use Laquer based paint, Congratulations! lol
You can either sew it or staple it. When you sew it, you just have to be very careful.
DeleteGlad to hear you're taking the less dangerous paint route. - Rick
